Why Mornings May Be the Best Time to Photograph Your Dog

We set out the day before to take an image of Jazz in this very park. That afternoon there were families all over the park and you couldn't even get to this rock he's sitting on, as it was covered with kids. Not a great scene for a dog who is easily distracted!

We decided to head back early the next morning and what a difference! No one around except a lone fisherman. This is the image we created. Quite a dramatic story telling image!

Mornings can really be an awesome time to take your dog out for a photo session.

  • There are usually less people and dogs around to distract them. Early morning sessions are a great option for those with reactive dogs or dogs that are just easily distracted.

  • Early mornings are a lot cooler in the summer when heat and humidity start to rise. Dogs can suffer from heat stroke and exhaustion as temperatures climb. An early morning session can be a lot safer option especially in the summer months.

  • Sunrise sessions can be especially beautiful and you don't have to worry about crowds blocking out your view like you do with sunsets.
